What's the point? They're not subject to any potential carbon tax (extraction is not emission), and it's an incredibly negative ROI to invest in reducing your carbon footprint otherwise. And it's not like they have any more reputation to lose in the eco-minded investor community, or eco-minded society at large.
They're in an industry which will wane over the next 3 decades and are better suited using their profits today to build a more sustainable business model for tomorrow (such as BP is doing with their massive investments in wind and solar, or Exxon with their huge R&D spend in biofuels) rather than trying to make oil extraction less carbon intense.
