I find the comments in the forum thread from back then to be very entertaining. Little did they know it would resurrect the company's fortunes utterly.

I wonder what other things we will also offhandedly dismiss that are destined for big things. I personally was very dismissive of TikTok when it first came about - "Ohh it's just a vine clone..."

Tesla? Jury is still out on that one although it seems more and more likely that Elon has gotten away with his misdeeds and won the war. Definitely in the case of SpaceX.

I heavily followed the Tesla Skeptics community in 2017 because engineers, supply chain folks and other experienced industry people were calling out so many established practices that Tesla was skipping. They managed to power through despite all conventional wisdom showing that their cars would end up being more expensive to own long term (due to quality, fit and finish, expensive to repair etc.). We wondered what other gremlins were lurking if the stuff we could see was bad. Turns out no one cared. It is hard to defeat a product that everyone enjoys and thinks is cool.

Also I absolutely despise the a-hole nature of the Tesla fanbase/investor community. Just a terrible group of people who have had enough luck/privilege in their lives to act the way that they do.

In the end a-holes sometimes don't get their comeuppance and repeating tons of industry mistakes does not end up killing you. In addition to that, Tesla does have some legit engineering talent so its not just all run by inexperienced software boneheads despite it looking that way in 2017/2018.

But yeah it would be interesting to see what other companies are out there that are emerging and are being dismissed. I'm thinking anything made by the Paypal mafia is something you have to take seriously. This whole group of psychopaths are going to consume the entire planet by the time they are done. So maybe Palantir should be taken more seriously(are they dismissed?). What else is this group doing now? They have so much money/power/influence in between them that whatever mistakes they make will not hurt them.

So much negativity in one comment...
Negativity formulates and spreads from one negative experience to another experience which makes itself a negative experience.

In my case it came from multiple instances of targeted harassment from Tesla people. Should I pass this negativity on? Clearly no but at the same time I reserve the right to express my feelings about what has transpired over the last few years.
