Ask HN: "transparent" RPC library

It baffers me that we are still writing networking plumbing code in the 21st century.

I really like the simplicity of zerorpc from dotcloud (Docker), but they stopped maintaining it. I wonder if there is a rpc library like that with implementations in most mainstream languages.

I know gRPC but just curious if there is anything schemaless and/or can be backed by a message queue
