Ask HN: IRC at Facebook

From various third-party accounts, it seems like Facebook's engineers still use IRC for internal communications. This surprised me in the age of Slack and Discord et al.

Could anybody at/ex-Facebook share what's kept Facebook on IRC, and how Facebook operates on IRC?
