How does this work? Do you parse the .app files for common updater framework configs?
MacUpdater uses several techniques to detect updates. If apps have "Sparkle" feeds we use those unless they’re outdated (happens more often than you think). Same for other feeds types. But most software (we support two dozen types, not just apps!) doesn’t use appcasts so we use a mix of automated and manual methods to find new versions, including a large database. For thousands of the most popular apps, we also support updating them directly from inside MacUpdater, even if the app doesn’t have that support (we always use official URLs which can be verified before updating). Thats especially practical for things like "Calibre" without update-function.
