Very easy to verify with something like the following in any shell:
% ping $(dig @1.1.1.1 www.google.com +short)
Note that the CDN latency easily becomes cumulative, because of the extra delay in HTTPS connections having to be established, and extra resources downloaded only after the prior ones get loaded.
