Very sad story, I feel awful for the family and friends of the man who was murdered in such an incomprehensible way... I understand defending your property and loved ones, but to shoot down a non-threatening, unarmed man, who was not even trespassing?
Why would Texans be shocked? These are the laws they voted for. Maybe Guardian readers are shocked.

If Texans are shocked, it's because the shooter was arrested at all. The victim had pulled his car onto the man's driveway. The man said he thought the victim had a gun. That should be all that's required.

I'm actually not understanding how Texas is shocked. The Article bases this claim on what exactly? They didn't have any interviews with Texans.
