Ask HN: What Is Your Salary?

10 points by camjohnson26 ↗ HN
The hiring market is weird right now which makes it difficult for job seekers to know what their value is. Companies try to control the spread of salary information so they have more leverage when negotiating. So my question is where are you, what is your role, and how much do you make?

I’m in the midwest United States earning $150k as a senior frontend engineer with 7 years of experience.

A better question is "What is your Income"?

Salary is fleeting. You could be fired tomorrow. You could get run over by a bus. Your company may be taken over and shut down. Your blood-pressure might get so high that you can't work. You might become a paraplegic.

"Where is your salary now??"

Prepare your time-after-salary now, while you still have it.

Midwest, bigger city. Sr. Linux Admin - $113,196.00 (company claims $125,666.89 with benefits)

More people need to talk about salary.
