I remember a time when modern phone services began to appear on post-soviet space, and service operators had to ask “How can I address you?” before a conversation. Some of my friends found that funny and always replied “My Lord”.
Well, aside from the woke movement, I find it in some way useful when you listen to radio shows, cause it sets up the scene better. Books do that as well, when a character is described in-between of the dialogs. But “caucasian” doesn’t really convey much sense in this case, because caucasian phenotypes are pretty diverse, to my knowledge. It would be more clear if they described a specific subgroup. In this case, caucasian sounds as “I’m european white”, in a way reinforcing the coarse separation by “race”.
