"We've lost nearly seven months in litigation and that likely has pushed the first human landing likely to no earlier than 2025," Nelson said, pinning the delay in NASA's return to the Moon firmly on Blue Origin and its lawyers. During the legal process, NASA was forbidden from working or even talking with SpaceX …

Boggles the mind that Blue Origin would rather put their money into legal battles than making their space flight tech better.
What I'm learning from this is that anything Jeff Bezos has his hand in is litigious. Amazon did the same thing with the JEDI contract for federal government cloud hosting when they lost the bid.
The guy earns in a month a yearly Nasa budget so naturally he will spend money on legal battles so they will pay me to do their job.
Just fuck off, NASA is already crippled by politics and now has to worry about billionaires and their ego trips so big they need outer space to contain it.
It really bothers me to defend Blue Origin but they have nothing to do with the delay of Artemis II until 2024. Given that Boeing can only build one SLS per year, Artemis III, the landing, is necessarily pushed to 2025.
Blue Origin is just the scapegoat in this case. That's ok, they deserve it.
You are absolutely correct of course. It is interesting that Senator Nelson would throw Blue Origin under the bus like that, it isn't normal for NASA to pass the buck, especially when it is blatantly untrue.
It is actually quite hilarious that Blue Origin pissed off so many people that Nelson knew he could get away with it, and even though everyone knows it isn't true, probably no one will bother to say anything.
Nice excuse by NASA for their horrible performance with SLS/Orion. Two system that should have been channeled a decade ago.
These systems are holding the NASA budget and the moon architecture hostage. NASA is not free to come up with good architectures because they have to use these sub-optimal tools.
Thanks to SpaceX, Starship development went forward, so no delay there.
The thing that was delayed is NASA and SpaceX working together on the interior of the Starship and the exact mission profiles NASA wants.
