Yes. Considering the Hacker News audience, I didn't want people to click on the link thinking it was an in-depth, scientific discussion.

We don't necessarily need to electrify everything, we can swap hydrocarbons from oil to synthetic hydrocarbons (or hydrogen) produced in a sustainable way, which may be considered 'zero net emissions'.

For aviation, this may be easier and my feeling is that this is what will happen for airliners.
