I've never understood the 1/4 mile time race thing, I assume this came from freeway on-ramps such that it was how easily could you get your car up to regular freeway traffic speed....
However, these days, I don't think that metric holds muster...
Sure its cool how fast one can go in many cars etc... but the usefulness of this metric (for regular drivers of actual production cars) seems really negligible.
EDIT: The title should read: Celeb with one of the largest car collections in the world spends money on something you would expect if you had the same money to spend on it.
