Santa Monica-based BetterWorks Offers Employee Perks For Startups (huffingtonpost.com)

HuffPo posted an article about a nearby startup, BetterWorks, which simplifies employee perks for small businesses. It's a great service: businesses pay $30/month + $5/employee and get 10% or more off of food, rentals, gym memberships, and other goods/services from local businesses. Businesss set a perk allowance each month, and the employee gets to decide how best to use that allowance.

AFAIK, it's LA and SF/SV only, but they recently closed a round of funding and are going to be expanding to more cities soon. I don't know the timeline for that expansion, though.

(Disclaimer: I work for Giant Media; my boss was interviewed for this article. We use Betterworks to order food at least 4x/week. And...nobody except for the guys at BetterWorks calls the area Silicon Beach.)
