$500 is not much of a barrier to people with only viasat options.
My starlink has been noticeably better over the last few months. I don't know if it's more satellites or better software to avoid the few trees I have obstructing.
I'd guess they haven't done much for mobile/moving dishys with this, it's probably all just cost reductions over the original design.

Please don't support this Kessler-effect-inducing and astronomy-ruining nightmare. The latter is already happening, while the former might already be in its infancy.
This "space littering" has got to stop, if not outwardly globally banned, until such time as appropriate clean up techniques are developed, tested, and deployed.
All Starlink satellites have relatively short life spans, after which they safely deorbit. Even if something were to go wrong they are in a low enough orbit where it will deorbit itself within months. Not exactly Kessler effect inducing.
Factor in inflation and the price range of iPhone models and you see $499 is reasonable for what Starlink's gateway device does in the techspace of under served unreachable areas. Would be interesting to measure that value to industrial farming machinery parts and servicing.
