Oh, the whole thread is worth a read to hear the various views. For posterity, I should also link the previous discussion on HN from a years back, and from which I've taken the title and link:
Is x86 on the server going to dissuade people from using ARM dev devices (specifically the M1 mac)..?
Or is m1 going make ARM cloud a reality?
I feel heavily towards the former for the next 3-4 years atleast because that's what I find myself doing even though I can run a Linux x86 Vm inside my Mac and cross compile fairly easily.
Would the x86 on the cloud create a chicken and the egg kind of lock-in?
