Ask HN: How much influence do bad translations have?

Today a video showed up on my YouTube timeline with an automated translated title: 's werelds grootste getijdenboor (Dutch).

It is about a spring wave that is called 'vloedbranding' or 'bore' in Dutch.

I never heard of a 'getijdenboor' so I tried to look it up online. There are a lot or websites with this word but they are all automatically translated. The word does not exist in Dutch.

So the translations of Google now introduced a non-existing word which spreads out across the internet.

I wonder how much influence this has.
