Boy, articles like this are why I don't use Substack. It's a completely incomprehensible rant that tries conflating embarrassment with sexual assault, racism and queerphobia. I'm never the kind of person to play the "gay card", but this has completely missed the point. Being told that you don't know what Pi means isn't paramount to dealing with any of the aforementioned situations. It just makes you look like even more of a stuck-up idiot who can't sympathize with other people's emotions.
Just be nice. It feels like such a simple ask these days, but for some reason people have to kick and scream the whole way down...
I don't think it's comparing them at all... It's saying just because something is offensive or can be considered offensive doesn't mean we have to react terribly to the situation. As a society we're getting more and more offended by everything and that's not a good thing...
