How would you get started earning money on a open source product. I've heard about the term "Open SaaS", but how would you get started, anything special you have to have in mind when starting?

If you want to get paid, charge money. It's ok if "opensource" is more important than getting paid, but it is probably helpful to acknowledge which one or the other is more important to you.

Be aware that charging money is hard for a lot of people and they would rather pursue something doomed to failure than face the possibilities for rejection that come from asking people to pay.
