Ask HN: How to find investors for a Herpes Vaccine?

1 points by CommanderData ↗ HN
I'm trying to see if there are any organisations or trusts that would donate funds purely based on a philanthropist nature if convinced. E.g SoftBank

Speaking to activist on a subreddit advocating for a cure to HSV-1/HSV-2. The virus has been linked to Alzheimer's and other degenerative diseases and is one of the leading causes of suicide in the young because of stigma.

There seems to be promising work being done in the field namely by Dr. Keith Jerome and Fred Hutch and a Chinese Pharmaceutical company BD Gene.

But it seems the group needs lobbying power and the pharmaceuticals also need funding, how best would you think to address this issue?

Isn't this type of research foundation like the Gates Foundation could back? HSV is something which increases susceptibility to HIV.

This MRNA approach also could be fast tracked if the government would agree this is an issue that needs tackling.
