> While, as a marketplace platform, we are under no legal obligation to carry out checks on the 150 million products offered for sale on the platform, we invest in a wide range of programs designed to attract and reward sellers that offer quality items, and limit the exposure of those offering lower quality items.
The main problem is that consumers are, frankly, ignorant. I mean I am too. I'm not expected to know about EU safety regulations for materials in toys or for electronic devices. But at least I know those regulations exist and expect that, in general, the products I find in stores have suffered some level of scrutiny.
But many people are not even aware that these regulations exist and why; worse yet, it's becoming increasingly difficult to know for sure if what you're buying is a proper product or just amazon trash brands that just repackage stuff from Aliexpress.
It's not ignorance, it's way too willful for that.
We know about local taxes, safety standards, patent and trademark licensing and the human and ecological damage caused by irresponsibly sourced materials... but happily ignore all of it because we save 30% off the co-branded resale imports, and 80% off the branded original.
It's not ignorance, it's the unadulterated marriage of consumerism and capitalism. Calculated greed.

[ 2.4 ms ] story [ 51.7 ms ] threadI've managed to get a set of mis-sold harddrives refunded with a delayed return so I could transfer the files off them.
I very much doubt that wish would facilitate that!
