Some thoughts about the HP Touchpad

you know HN, after some thoughts, i think the media was behind the failure of the HP touchpad before it got discounted. i don't remember seeing HP market the touchpad as the "iPad Killer", the media did. the public didn't feel like it was an iPad killer.

i now wonder how the story would have turned if they just mentioned it as just another tablet? HP Touchpad would have been another tablet, another choice, like Sony Playstation 3 to Nintendo Wii. Not a single news source would ever say, ok, Nintendo just released console x the Sony console x killer. They know in their right mind that they are just choices.

it's time for the media to put some thought about the message they are sending the wide public.
