Ask HN: What's your setup for high resolution, high quality audio calls?

I miss actually talking to people, but to my ears, which were trained on old-school landline telephones, mobile phone calls sound terrible, and FaceTime/Skype/Hangouts all sound worse. Do you have a platform or system that works well for you? What hardware do you use?
