Ironic considering there's another headline about Germany on the first page stating that Germany wants to enshrine encryption and privacy and anonymity as rights. Ah, so they are champions of people's rights in Germany? Meanwhile they assault people's bodily autonomy as a prerequisite for putting food on the table and participating in society and normal living. They even presume to tell you how many people can gather in your household now and under what conditions.
“Under rules announced Thursday, gatherings are limited to “one household” plus two other people, if those among them include people who are unvaccinated or who have not recently recovered from covid-19”
How much longer will people tolerate this authoritarianism?Where are all the tech antifascist activists who were staging walkouts and protests in so many tech companies over the last few years? Where are all the developers who were so up at arms about making sure that fascism in the workplace is stamped out? Do none of you have teams or coworkers in these countries or from these countries? I see almost no complaints or protests or mentions of the collapse of Australian, Austrian, and German democracies in tech circles or in the mass media. If anything, I see some bureaucrats wishing they could muster this kind of power in other countries too.
Everyone everywhere needs to stand up and say something before it's too late. Your politicians in these countries, insofar as they are wielding this power and not fighting against it, are not your friends. They do not care about your health or your children. It's not about public health. It's about control and surveillance.
