Why the hell is supabase using Auth0 for its auth?

Today I decided to try supabase as I am reading about it and is impressed about its features. But when I decided to try it directed me to a Auth0 auth page, this creates a very bad first impression as whether supabase team trusts its auth offering.

What are your views on this guys ?

Auth0 has more features, some of which are very useful for a PaaS/SaaS startup. That might be the original reason.
{supabase ceo}

It's because we didn't have Supabase Auth when we started. We're migrating now: https://github.com/supabase/supabase/pull/4339

Out of interest are you a kiwi? As a kiwi it would be interesting to find out the CEO of Supabase is a kiwi.
That's great to hear. I am also wishing to start a SaaS with pay-per-use model in a similar manner to Supabase, if you don't mind I have few questions for you.

1. What should with data of user one do when someone fails to do their subscription payment or cancels it?

2. How to manage usage based billing on the day before their card is charged ?

I'm not sure if I'm the authority on this. For supabase, we use soft-tiers so that developers aren't caught by surprise on their usage tiers
