Ask HN: What speed are you watching you YouTube videos?

I sort of got used to watching most of YT videos on 1.5x but more like 2x speed. Now "normal" speed sounds like it's slowed down.

It depends on the complexity of the material presented in the video. Sometimes 2x, sometimes 1.5x or sometimes even repeatedly pause videos to understand better.
Great, it's not just me then! It would be interesting to see some analytics from YT makers...does YT logging the (average) playback speed for the videos for statistics?
As a hard of hearing person, I mostly depend on subtitles to follow along. So, 2.5x is my usual speed, sometimes 3x depending on the content.
1x because I am usually doing something else in parallel.
Not sure if not watching them counts as 0x or infinity?

But for those videos that I do watch outside of Youtube, it depends a lot on the narrator and their pace.

The woman has started watching her YT talking heads at 2x speed, ugh. The only thing more annoying hearing constant idiotic blather is hearing it in chipmunk.
NewPipe allows to speed the video even more when it is silent. It's a very nice feature that got destroyed when Google decided to cut the download speed of third party YouTube clients.
It really depends on the complexity of the topic and the accent of the speaker. Most videos I watch at 2.8x. Otherwise it's 2x.
Almost always at 1.25, unless it's for a couple of specific channels where I like to hear the guy speak in a normal voice.
Usually somewhere between 1.75 and 1.9, depending on the content. There's something weird that happens moving from 1.9 to 2.0 where I feel the audio quality degrades dramatically.
