Just saying the obvious but while we burn coal and build new coal plants, it doesn't make sense to try to replace aviation fuel with batteries. It's about 100 times harder to do.
And when it happens, it will be slower speed propeller planes using electric motors, not very inefficient jets that are only possible because of the tremendous energy content of carbon fuels. It's crazy to use electricity for heating when you could just drive a motor with it.
We should first pick the lower hanging fruit and replace fossil fuels where they are very easy to replace.
And we should also lower their usage where they are easy to simply lower, like flying around for no good reason. Flying is extremely cheap compared to its climate burden. Government subsidized aircraft development programs and untaxed fuel.
