In Europe, they ban things like culling chickens and boiling live lobsters. But somehow abortion is nowhere nearly as important to people in Europe as it is in the US. It's accepted in many of these progressive European countries that care so deeply about animal welfare. It's cognitive dissonance.
There's a difference between throwing a full grown baby in a woodchipper and ending a pregnancy of in an early stage. European countries also have limits on the stage at which you can end a pregnancy. Besides, when it comes to a pregnancy, the right to self determination and physical integrity of the women in question being pregnant is in play.

How so? I think you mean "according to my ethics, it's inconsistent/unreasonable" but you didn't say in what way. Just saying "This thing we do here, they think is bad. This thing we don't do here, they do!" is not an argument or explanation. Anyway, making this about US vs European views on abortion seems rather off-topic.
