What bothered me about working in corporate America wasn’t this stuff because it’s easy enough to ignore. Sure it’s lame to say “doubleclick” but when is an office job ever not lame?

Particularly in California-based tech companies, it’s imperative to communicate in a positive way regardless of the circumstances. Critique or dissent are really not welcomed. Any problem you present to your boss needs to be accompanied by a plan to fix it, otherwise zip your lip.

I dummied up about projects that were obviously going to fail (and then did fail) because there was no incentive to say anything. I’d be the party-pooper for saying something negative, the project would proceed as if I never said anything, and when it failed there would be no “wow, turns out you were right.”

Those are some of the things I resented most about the corporate environment. I don’t give a shit if someone says “in the loop”.
