BBS is the first Social Media Platform that distributes ad revenue to the users of the network. Join the first 'Programming' BBS and start to give back to the community and get paid for your troubles!
I'm not an expert in this particular domain, but the fact that EOS was successfully sued by the SEC and is based in the Cayman Islands doesn't necessary breed alot of confidence.
The home page for the deWeb Framework discusses the benefits for site operators, developers, and marketers, but has nothing to say about the benefits for users of these sites.
I found this information by reading the Privacy and ToS pages, as the 'About' section of the site contained no information about the underlying financial technologies.
As a potential user of the site, entering into a quasi-financial contract with the operator, the things I want to know are all about transparency:
The legal name of every entity that is selling my information, along with the details of that info and it's real value.
The fungibility of the underlying tokens -- The deWeb/EOS home pages mention tethering, but are vague about the exact details.
The exact distribution model being used to determine the disbursement of tokens, with public reporting.
It strikes me as disingenuous to ask people to enter into a legal(?) covenant and not provide the fair-market information required to knowledgeably enter into said contract.
The more I assimilate the ideas of NFT's in this context, the more I think in a dystopian mindset. People's opinions change over time and to encapsulate them into a permanent form to be recycled/reused as a form of attack against you years into the future is no bueno.
tldr: posts can be sold and resold, but the original poster and admin of the specific board each get a cut every time. Also, the price of each post only and always goes up each time. And the owner can choose to allow a banner ad on a post and earns 100% of the revenue from it supposedly.
I created a BBS https://bbs.market/WRKSPC but it seems you have to bring your own users because there's no way to promote a BBS at all unless you're one of the top 10. The UX overall is very confusing. I can see what they are trying to do, but unless you're part of the incrowd you won't 'get' it.
You can’t search for other BBS communities on BBS, but you can see the top 10 or so. You have to go to twitter or insta and search for #bbs to find different, smaller communities.
I don’t get it, the omission of any kind of community, post or user search, especially as someone who loathes all the reliance on twitter especially on potential alternative media platforms.

[ 3.3 ms ] story [ 55.8 ms ] threadFor anyone wondering what the underlying blockchain/framework is: the site is using the deWeb Framework [https://www.deweb.io/] which is based on the EOS.IO blockchain [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/EOS.IO].
