Tell HN: Marketing companies are gaming IMDB reviews

Recently a lot of negative reviews are being removed from IMDb. Here is how the fake review guys are doing it.

IMDB says they are removed as they contain spoilers - but this is the latest thing film/series marketing companies that shill reviews are doing a as strategy -- got through and falsely report negative reviews as containing spoiler and once they use ten+ fake accounts to label a reviews as containing spoiler IMD algorithm just automatically removes it.

The other issue with IMDB for me is that reviews are international. As a Frenchman, I find SensCritique to have much better reviews.

It's a bit like food, Americans, Italians, and Koreans will not appreciate the same restaurants.

I feel like IMDB is also to blame here. Why would it remove spoiler-laden reviews instead of just hiding them behind a UI toggle but keeping their rating part of the computed score?

Yeah, you'd expect people who want to talk about why they like the movie to make more accurate reviews too.
