I presume so you can build firmware in the cloud. It looks like another large part of the idea is to support development remote from the device. This could be a clever move considering the state of things at the moment.
It is a marketing piece, but i do think it's hitting on a real need. I'm a web app developer by trade, but dabble in embedded stuff, and i always feel like I'm going back in time 15 years when making that switch. Compared to the state of modern web dev, embedded programming is down right archaic
