Ask HN: How can a non us resident living outside the US, build credit?

I've studied in the US and lived there for a while before moving back to my country. I have an SSN, a US bank account and spend considerable money in the US. I would assume this would contribute to some credit building, but I always new it didn't bc there are a limited number of ways to become credit visible, such as being grandfathered in, or paying your rent and bills, etc. Is there another way for a nomad to benefit from US credit?

I ask this because I just found https://extra.app and I don't know if it's legit or a $7/month scam.

Get a US credit card and begin using it.
This.

If you have no visibility to the Credit Industry, you might as well not exist.

In my younger days, I followed on in my father's footsteps and paid cash for everything, and never ran any sort of credit. When I finally needed to open up a store credit card, which had been advertised widely as "Instant credit up to $5000" or something like that, I was only offered the minimum, something like $500. When I asked why they only offered me such a low amount of credit, their answer was "Simple. You have no history of using credit at all. We don't know if we will be paid. So we gave you as little credit as possible."
