Is this the end of Java or just a bump in the road?

Why would it be? It could have happened in any programming language.
Totally agree. But it DID happen in Java. So, I was thinking some might be turned off from bad PR.
Languages never die from bad PR.

Languages die when no one uses them.

There are only 2 kinds of programming languages: The ones people complain about, and the ones no one cares about.

Hey bro you should credit Bjarne with your little quote there
I could have, if I knew that it was him who said it. Thanks for the info.
I mean you could at least start with an argument as to why it is the end of Java.

But as other have replied, no, it is not even a bump. I am not even sure why Log4J relate to the end of Java ecosystem. That is like saying heartbleed is the end of C.

Nah this is a genuine question from me.

My friend (a Java programmer) brought up the idea, and I was curious.

Also I read something on HN about it being the most wide spread and critical exploit of the decade.

Was any of the tens of thousands of buffer-overflow bugs the end of C?
