With ETH 2.0 as a proxy for “proof of stake”

As the poll doesn't specify a time limit, or define the minimum feature set of ETH 2.0, or even what the success criteria are, I think it is safe to guess that eventually something called ETH 2.0 will be claimed by the Ethereum developers to be available.

More seriously, I think that there is a greater than 50% chance that Ethereum fully integrates a proof of stake system this year (or next), as there are already competitors claiming to have deployed that technology.

The Hacker News community has been notoriously cynical about crypto and blockchain from the very beginning. Adding a timeline would have brought out that cynicism even more. I was more interested in the binary yes/no on Ethereum migration to proof of stake from a technical standpoint. Even that got a 50/50 split so far (so 50% of voters don’t think that migration will happen over ANY timeframe, I’m not judging but that’s maximum cynicism. Maybe there’s an early responder bias).
