Ask HN: Let's see your weekend projects

12 points by timjahn ↗ HN
I see a ton of weekend projects posted regularly to HN and some of the stuff produced is just outright cool.

More importantly though, it's a great example of creative thinkers hard at work trying to make even the slightest impact on the world around them.

I'd love to write a post on EntrepreneursUnpluggd.com highlighting some of these projects.

If you're interested in being included, post your weekend project link here and a quick 1 sentence pitch about it.

Thanks!

On a Thursday?

A file manager I have been writing in Vala:

Id like to add a "shelf" at some point, but the first priority is getting the details view on the right of the window fleshed out.

Find Gluten Free Beer and Celiac Friendly Businesses.

This is fantastic! My wife has celiac. The geolocation failed for me, though - maybe add a search by zip or browse by state feature?
Here's mine - http://dudmail.com (a disposable email / email anonymiser site)

It ended up taking significantly longer than a weekend, but it's just about done =)

Hopefully I'll be doing a HN - Review my site/checkout my weekend project shortly...

http://www.regexone.com An rt interactive tool to teach people how to use regular expressions. Took a couple weekends, but was my first dive into AWS and PHP MVC frameworks (Kohana) too :)
Scribble - http://scribble.wreally.com

For those who have a habit of saving .txt files to their desktop as reminders, notes, thoughts and random ideas.

It's also on the Chrome webstore, and it has found it's own little fan club there :)

I'm totally one of those people. When I'm on a call, I quickly open up TextEdit to jot down notes, and then transfer them to Evernote or Basecamp after.

Neat idea!

Data Integration Agent http://DataIntegrationAgent.com

I got really sick of all the different crappy ways to get data into SalesForce. I really can just drag and drop from a toolbox. Point to files, do joins, mapping, and eve custom code. When I'm done I enter my password for SalesForce and push the run button.

It is a bit buggy though, I just slapped together some code I had and some code I found around the net. But, the screen shots are real, and even my buggy solution works way better than anything out there.

Place Guitar - http://www.placeguitar.com - guitar placeholder images that rock!

Coloring Out - http://www.coloringout.com - css colour transmorgrifier. I have no idea how to properly describe this - basically it lets you add a hex value to every hex colour in your css....so you can keep a relative colour scheme, but shift it up or down.
