Just for info, mine (a BB10 device) hasn’t died (yet).
It did report a SIM fault, which cleared by removal and reinsertion. Settings / About / SIM Card now reports SIM Licence, Service and Service alias Not Assigned or No Information. Internet, calls and SMS still work ok.
I thought I’d turned Protect off but it must have come on again after a recent reboot. You can still turn it off at protect.blackberry.com, and I believe forums recommend doing that.
What now? Well, don’t wipe it (it may not reactivate) and perhaps avoid rebooting in case it trips up trying to login with BB ID. CrackBerry.com forums has lots of advice.
