Google's Firebase SDK collects Crashdata despite opt out (github.com)

they tend to consider these sorts of things a feature, not a bug.

I try to regain control of my device by blocking domains of this and other tracking services using a local firewall and network based blocking.

Are there other things that can be done?

if this were an article about Microsoft doing the very same thing, this would be on the front page and people would be going bananas.

but, since there's no geek cred in going bonkers over something Google does, no one cares...
