This piece steps over criticism into conspiracy theory.
No. It doesn't. It uses mild hyperbole in places, and a click-bait title, but that's all.

The piece says: "Tesla have made updates which make safety-critical features harder to access."

Conspiracy theory would mean "intentional." There is absolutely nothing in the piece which suggests anything other than very bad design.

This reduces the quality of the piece (I wouldn't have placed it on the front page), but that's different from conspiracy theory.

You're aware that regen braking is an option, right? You can turn it off.
> Regenerative braking is key to braking in an electric car and occurs when you take your foot off the accelerator.

Taking your foot off the accelerator should not cause braking. There is a brake pedal for braking. I tried driving a Tesla, and this departure from the way normal cars work really turned me off.

In a combustion engine, removing your foot from the pedal causes engine braking, which is a function of your gear, but it's very possible to nearly stop a speeding car with engine braking alone, with a series of downshifts. Pressing the clutch removes this effect and lets you roll with minimal braking.

Electric cars don't have that, so they simulate it. Automatic cars do that too, to an extent.

You get used to it quickly enough.
It's beyond silly to declare that there's One True Way to implement braking. The article's point is far more relevant: if the system works one way, changing it silently is extremely dangerous.
Yet another hyperbole Tesla tantrum.

> Imagine that sometimes you get in a car and 50% of your braking is gone. Sometimes it isn’t.

> Braking is fundamental to NOT KILLING PEOPLE.

You should always use the braking pedal in dangerous situations. Also, you can immediately feel the lack of regen when starting the drive, it's not a surprise.

> There used to be a button on the screen to turn on, off windscreen wipers.

Literally just press the physical wipers button on the stalk to show the UI. It can't be easier.

> But don’t auto wipers in the Tesla work? No. They are shit. Just don’t even try.

Auto wipers work perfectly 99% of the time.

Sure, the UI update is not great, Tesla already acknowledged that and will probably push a fix soon.
