Democrats are using the shameful legacy of slavery to commit further shameful acts - racist takings from people who did nothing wrong, because of the crime of having a particular skin color.

This is no different than 80 years ago how we were told the Japanese were a dire threat — so people could take their farms in California and upwards along the coast.

Nothing good will come of Democrats embracing institutional racism.

I fundamentally object to the idea of society treating people differently based on race. Especially when it's the government — in which case it is also illegal.

In one of the examples, it describes a craven use of eminent domain. Eminent domain is absolutely abused, and disproportionately impacts those of lower socioeconomic status. But if anything, that's a reason to make the criteria based on socioeconomic status and eminent domain — not race. There is no morally defensible reason to make whole some victims of eminent domain abuse and not others, based on the color of their skin.

I'm a classic liberal, equality for all, but not the new "liberalism" espoused by Ibrahim X Kendi ("How to be anti-racist") that posits "The only remedy to past discrimination is present discrimination. The only remedy to present discrimination is future discrimination."

The discrimination remedies would be levied based on race to (mostly) white people but also non-BIPOC peoples (black/indigenous people-of-color) such as Asians.

I know many readers on HN may not be interested in following this stuff, but its becoming THE issue for me thats turned me from the Obama-voting liberal I was to the right-wing voter I am now (despite not being a conservative, religious, from the South/rural, etc).

Seeing the Democratic party embrace these ideologies full-stop has been incredibly saddening.
