Over the holidays, my inlaws asked me to take a look at their computer. It was running really slow. What I found was Norton's was slaughtering their hard drive with writes to a temp file. 100 megabytes a second. Disabling Norton didn't stop it at all. I had to boot into safe mode to uninstall it before the writes would stop. Given they had issues for the past few months, I honestly think Norton will have killed their SSD.

100 megabytes per second for 2 months is 518.4 TB.

the 850 evo 1 TB has a warranty of 5 years or 150 terabytes written, so Norton has totally destroyed the warranty. And there's a decent shot that the drive will fail soon...
