Ask HN: Is Hacker News Blocked in India?

Woke up today and couldn't access the site. Had to connect to VPN to load the site. I'm aware of content blocking in India but why block hackernews?

I couldn’t access it without a VPN too, but other folk with different ISPs seem to be able to access it. Airtel is my ISP, is yours the same too? If so, it’s even more puzzling why Airtel has decided to block it.

Using a tracepath does point to Airtel. So, I'm assuming it is atleast using Airtel to route my traffic.

Blocked for me over AirTel as well, works fine on VPN.

Yes not working on Airtel. Works fine on jio 4G though.

I raised a ticket with Airtel - their technical team called back and said they were having "routing table" issues and that they were working to fix it. He was unable to provide more details and did not provide a time-to-fix.

Same for me, on Airtel. Can only access with a VPN or TOR

Yep, was out most of the day (until 7 pm I think). Airtel is my ISP as well.

Airtel Fiber for me. Came alive at around 9PM IST. Worked on VI though
