The trouble with stackoverflow jobs is stackoverflow.

I know one of the great ideas of stackoverflow was that it controlled bad behavior by making people jump through hoops and demonstrate their conformity by being allowed to fully participate.

I didn't find that interesting or satisfying and, in particular, in the few cases where I had expert knowledge of an area the community didn't recognize it. As it is the site is full of low quality questions and answers and bans discussion of most of the really tough questions like "What framework do I choose for?" which is at least 50% of the derisking in Java and Javascript planning.

When you see wrong and low quality answers stay at the top of the list for a decade you don't have faith that high quality participation is welcome. The developer story is not going to attract the best or even good developers, it is going to attract the best and good players of a bad game.

That's disappointing. When I was job searching, I found that SO provided the best opportunities and felt like a more real conversation with a fellow "tech" person, especially compared to LinkedIn.

I also really liked their developer story and the generated PDF for my resume. I guess I'll have to go back to LinkedIn for that :/

I don't really get their announcement. The company brand stuff they find worthwhile is to be in no way tied to actual open positions? This is a feature to help companies that aren't hiring make people feel dissatiafied with their own life?
Disappointed to hear this. My first job out of university (and the job I still work today!) came through StackOverflow Jobs.

I've only received ~three approaches through StackOverflow Jobs in the past two years, but each was relevant and interesting. This is dramatically different from the weekly approaches I get through LinkedIn which have mostly been worthless recruiter spam.
