Ask HN: Free/Cheap Billing Software for Managing Invoices

I'm currently looking to found my first business, and as I'm still a student I don't have a lot of money to spend.

I've looked at WHMCS ($18.95/Month; the maximum I would be willing to spend), but honestly the API for generating incvoices is just horrible.

Any recommendations?

Google Sheets with an invoicing template. Save as PDF and send. Free.

I've been a client of invoice ninja for 5+ years. Very pleased with the extremely fast customer service requests and constant feature rollouts. They truly care about their clients' success.

Maybe overkill but odoo is free, open source, and set up in minutes with Docker
