Did HN shadowban my post about 5G? Help me check?
I just checked the first 15 pages and the post is gone, in spite being only 4 hours old and having 75 points. It still appears under "new", but not in the main index

[ 4.4 ms ] story [ 23.6 ms ] threadHow are stories ranked? The basic algorithm divides points by a power of the time since a story was submitted. Comments in threads are ranked the same way. Other factors affecting rank include user flags, anti-abuse software, software which demotes overheated discussions, account or site weighting, and moderator action.
Sometimes a story with 3 points will show up on the frontpage, sometimes a story with 20 points won't show up anywhere.
The exact mechanism is not obvious for the common users of the board.
Yes I'm a nerd so I did a little `curl | grep` thing to find it way way down at the end.
Appreciate the pointer!
:D
p.s. I looked in your comment history.."People think you're spouting conspiracy theories" - I see you've had that problem already. Well, maybe stop doing posts like this that are nothing but conspiracy theory.

These passive sensing applications are spelled out in papers presented at 5G industry conferences and published in peer reviewed journals. I'm not "doing posts that are nothing but conspiracy theory" because none of this is a conspiracy, it's all completely out in the open. All the papers I linked to are peer reviewed and directly spell out sensing applications of the infrastructure being built.
Just look at some of these. Read the abstracts. https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=29943504
Do you have any idea how frustrating it feels to be sincerely concerned about this stuff and get gas lit, shut down and diminished time and time again?
> please don't patronize me.
I don't know what you're referring to there.
> I'm not "doing posts that are nothing but conspiracy theory"
This very page we are commenting on seems about and motivated by nothing but your conspiracy theory about why your post was lower on the list than you expected.
The paper whose title you changed, it seems to me, was most likely flagged by a few people, which takes it lower down the list I believe, mainly because of your many flaky-seeming meta-comments on it. You sabotaged it yourself, in multiple ways. Maybe it would've got flagged down that far anyway, I don't know. I'm trying to help you, by giving you the perspective of someone not involved in your issues and coming across these two posts for the first time. It seems like you should cut down on the drugs, or seek psychological help. That's how it seems. I'm assuming everything you say and think about the 5G stuff is correct, I know nothing about that. Good luck.
The post went to #1 within 20 minutes of posting. I don't usually see my posts get to the front page of hackernews so being a huge nerd but I was excited and followed it closely.
It hovered around on the front page for a couple of hours then disappeared suddenly without being marked as flagged and without comment from the mods. That seemed really weird.
Clearly some kind of moderation was involved that I didn't understand at the time I made this "meta post".
I'd wrongly assumed that if the post was to be removed it would be flagged. Now I'm learning, thanks to some other commenters here, that there are other ways content can be moderated on hackernews, and that this process is not transparent.
> I'm assuming everything you say and think about the 5G stuff is correct, I know nothing about that.
I definitely misunderstood your earlier comment.
> It seems like you should cut down on the drugs, or seek psychological help
This just comes across as condescending to me. Yes my posts were insufferable. Yes I'm excited. Please don't diagnose me.
