Yes, and: much of the solar energy reaching earth is used by other life, the diversity of which helps the ecosystem be more resilient, including us. If the choice was binary, I’d opt for plants and animals over a fully-electric house and vehicle. Since the choices are more nuanced, I think we global 1% can adjust to consuming less energy. This will require at-first-unpopular regulation, but as culture shifts it’ll be easier.

Considering how much energy means for national security, it is insane how little we invest in non-fossil energy.
