Google can't replicate its IM strategy in the AR space if it build on its existing product. No, it has to create a number of separate AR products, each with a slightly different feature set, and release those all in different markets so that no one product ever reaches significant marketshare before they all get discontinued for lack of uptake.
Excited to see an AR headset that launches behind the competition, isn't supported and then gets quietly discontinued or moved to B2B like Stadia and Google Glass.
