Ask HN: Does AI works for sports? Do you have examples?

Hello, I was just reading an article on an italian newspapers about American football clubs owners using AI for their clubs in Italy, unsuccessfully, and I was wondering if you have example of AI working,

The article starts outside clubs with the example of Euro2020 final, where the penalty takers were calculated by an AI, and 3 of them failed their shot

Then there is like Parma that went from serie D to A in 3 years but now since it has been bought by AI-using ameericans is on the bottom of Serie B, then Genoa that was bought by these AI-using americans and got DS and 4 couch in a season one one which got 9 loss in 9 matches, and Tiago Pinto and Rome who are worse this year than last, but yeah seems like AI doesn't do sport well.. or do you have examples that proves its effectiveness?
