Ask HN: What Alternative Careers Are Software Developers Pursuing?

I occassionally re-read similar posts here on HN about 'How did you escape tech?', and while I appreciate them/the effort, I usually find them wanting.

They seem to be some version of:

  - i started a farm and now i pick berries all day
  - i started making trinkets on etsy
  - i used my savings to retire to mexico
  - i started a bed and breakfast
  - i went back to school for 'x'

I dunno....all good and fine -- just not for me.

Management consulting, Investment banking, UI/UX design, Product management are some alternative careers I have heard software engineers pursue
