Ask HN: How do you celebrate feature releases as a remote only company?

We just have a google meet call/lunch where the company will reimburse you for take-out.

Fancy lunch delivered by Postmates + Zoom meeting seems to be the analogous mapping into “The New Normal”. Have fun!

For bigger releases we all hop on zoom and someone can play some music and eventually press the button to launch so there is some kind of shared moment. Then afterwards people can expense a dinner for their family.

For smaller releases we let the team who build it to write the changelog[1] entry and share with social/users and celebrate it internally. Generally I think it's important that people feel their work is recognized and often they get instant love from users too.

We celebrate by beginning the next sprint. I don't get excited about a release until users get excited.

I feel like giving everyone involved a half day off would be a pretty big celebration.

Company wide demo day / all hands. Time off. Mailed treats. Bonuses.

Don't celebrate, give the teams a bonus.
