Hey geo people! I put together re:places after receiving an email reminder of the upcoming sunset of the amazing Algolia Places API, a service we use extensively @citizensGBR. re:places polyfills city searches (because that's what we needed) by intercepting calls to the Algolia API and responding via an in-memory db of around 41,000 locations. Everything is served via CDN and can also be run standalone.
I know there's a lot of people affected by the places shutdown. If anyone's in need of a city search and would like to try out re:places I'd be very happy for the feedback. Cheers from the city of Cairns :)
